© The poster must be attributed as: ‘The 2025 National NAIDOC Poster incorporating the Aboriginal Flag and the Torres Strait Islander Flag (licensed by the Torres Strait Island Council)’.
This year’s NAIDOC Week, held from 6 July to 13 July 2025, celebrates the theme “The Next Generation: Strength, Vision and Legacy”.
Poster Title: Ancestral Lines
Ancestral Lines is a visual representation of the lines and ties that follow a generation and the songs that come with it.
Aboriginal Artist: Jeremy Morgan Worrall
“In the eyes of our children, we see not only our past reflected, but the strength of our future unfolding. They are the keepers of our story, the bearers of our vision, the living legacy of generations of wisdom. The path to tomorrow is walked by the feet of our children, guided by the wisdom of our Elders, and paved with the resilience of generations who came before”. — Sue-Anne Hunter, Proud Wurundjeri and Ngurai Illum Wurrung woman, Deputy Chair and Commissioner of the Yoorrook Justice Commission

The 2025 NAIDOC theme, The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy, honours the incredible strength and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, as well as the powerful vision and legacy that our Elders and communities leave for our future generations.
It’s an opportunity to celebrate the young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander leaders who are shaping a positive future for their communities, honouring their strength, vision, and the legacy they are building.
2025 also marks a significant milestone for NAIDOC Week, as we celebrate 50 years of elevating First Nations voices, culture and resilience, as well as recognising and acknowledging the wonderful achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.
As we commemorate this legacy, we pass the baton on to the next generation who will move forward, guided by those who have walked the path before them. The wisdom of Elders reminds us of the importance of the passing down of culture and knowledge to our young people. It is through their strength and determination that their cultures will continue to thrive and flourish in the years to come.
This NAIDOC Week 2025, as all Australians come together to celebrate, let us reflect on the incredible achievements and contributions of First Nations peoples and communities. Let us look to the future with hope and optimism, knowing that the next generation will carry on the legacy and continue to fight for justice, equality, and recognition.
As Pope Francis said to the youth of the world: "Walk in hope! Hope overcomes all weariness, every crisis, and every worry. It gives us a powerful incentive to press forward, for it is a gift received from God himself."
And let us reflect:
- What can I learn from the stories that have been passed down from our ancestors and Elders?
- How do I create space to listen and learn from our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Sisters and Brothers, including our young people?
- How can I be a good steward of God's love to each one of my neighbours so that I may listen, learn and welcome?

Congratulations Bree-Anna Fogliada from St Paul’s Catholic Primary School, Albion Park on attaining the national certification of Highly Accomplished Teacher accreditation.
CEDoW is pleased to formally acknowledge Bree-Anna's significant achievement in attaining this level of teacher accreditation.
Bree-Anna has dedicated a number of years to achieving this milestone and is one of only a few teachers in the Diocese of Wollongong to reach this accreditation level.
Bree-Anna's significant impact on student learning and teaching, as well as her notable influence on colleagues, was demonstrated throughout her accreditation documentation and during the external site visit.
This impact continues to be evident in her daily professional practice within her school community at St Paul's. This voluntary certification is a testament to Bree-Anna's dedication to continuous improvement — a commitment that extends to her students, her colleagues, and her professional growth.
Student Sexualised Behaviours
Since the introduction of CEDoW Responding to student sexualised behaviour framework all Compass sexualised behaviour records have triggered a notification to the CEDoW Child Safety and Professional Services (CSaPS) team for review and responding advice.
This was intended to provide specialist support to schools while they adjusted to the new way of working. In recognition of the maturity achieved in the past 5 years, moving forward, CSaPS will only review medium and high-level student sexualised behaviour records.
School leaders are responsible for ensuring that processes are in place to escalate sexualised behaviours for review and responses, especially Low behaviours, which are no longer reviewed by CSaPS.
The Compass records for each age group will support school staff to identify the correct level of the behaviour through the examples provided, but it's important to remember there are factors that will increase the level of concern, for example:
- if there is a significant age, size or power difference between the instigating and impacted students
- if there is secrecy, coercion or bribery
- if the behaviour forms part of a series of bullying or degrading behaviours/comments
- if the nature of the behaviour is compulsive, opportunistic or degrading
All staff in every school can contact the Child Safety team for advice on specific matters if they are unsure of the level of concern. You can do this by directly contacting the child safety advisor allocated to your school, or by contacting the team on childprotection@dow.catholic.edu.au or 02 4250 9555.

Final Reminder: Review of CEDoW's Instructional Coaching – Survey
Thank you to all who contributed so far. The survey window is closing this Friday 4 July 2025.
The Improvement, Learning and Wellbeing (ILW) service area of CEDoW has announced an evaluation of its current model of instructional coaching within its primary, secondary and K-12 schools.
CEDoW recognises the dedicated efforts of Instructional Coaches (ICs) and remains committed to the methodology of contextualised peer-coaching in pedagogy. It is envisaged that feedback resulting from our evaluation will provide further strength and purpose to the role of the IC and their continued support.
The review of the instructional coaching model will commence in the final weeks of Term 4, 2024, and conclude at the end of Term 2, 2025, to capture the feedback of past and present ICs and broader CEDoW personnel.
All stakeholders now have an opportunity to contribute to our inquiry through a range of processes, including this survey. In an effort to establish a thorough understanding of our model of instructional coaching, we welcome honest and transparent feedback. For this reason, we are not collecting respondents' email addresses.

Sent Forth in Strength and Hope – Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Sunday
Attention: Principals, RECs, AEAs and Aboriginal Contacts

6 July 2025 marks Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Sunday and the beginning of NAIDOC Week.
This year’s theme, “Sent Forth in Strength and Hope,” resonates deeply with the Jubilee Year of Hope’s overarching theme, “Pilgrims of Hope.”
The National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Catholic Council (NATSICC) has prepared a range of liturgical and other resources to support the celebration, which can be accessed HERE.
The journey of hope is beautifully captured in the Dharawal Dreaming story of Wiritjiribin, the First Lyrebird. To learn more about Wiritjiribin and the spirit of hope, explore pages 6-7 in the CEDoW Guidebook for the Celebration of the Year of Jubilee.
Staff Reminder – Sign-In Procedure When Visiting Schools
All staff are reminded that when visiting a school in your capacity as an employee of Catholic Education Diocese of Wollongong (CEDoW), you are required to sign in as a CEDoW staff member, not as a visitor.
This applies to all staff, including those visiting from other schools or office-based roles within our system. Whether you are attending a meeting, supporting an event, or providing onsite assistance, it is essential that you sign in upon arrival.
Signing in as a staff member is a compliance requirement and forms part of our commitment to maintaining a safe, secure, and accountable environment for students, staff, and our wider school communities.
To sign in correctly, you will need to select the Staff option and fill in all mandatory fields. This includes your Employee ID, which is available on both ESS and your payslip. Please ensure you have this ready before your visit.
There are two options for signing in via the iPad at a school’s front office:
- QR Code via App
It is recommended that you install the Quick Sign In app on your phone if you haven’t already done so. This app enables a quicker and more efficient sign in process. Please ensure you fill in your name, phone number and “CEDoW Employee Number”. Most schools will display a QR code which you can use to download the app if you don’t have it. - Manual Sign-In
Enter your details directly on the screen.
Thank you for your cooperation and for playing your part in keeping our schools safe.
